Whitman’s house maid said her boss knew she was an illegal immigrant during nine years on the job. The timing of the revelation is curious, given that the Republican nominee for CA governor is going all out to win the November election. Whitman is campaigning as a staunch supporter of holding employers accountable for hiring illegal immigrants.

Meg Whitman’s Mexican maid, Nicky Diaz Santillan, spilled the beans at a press conference Wednesday, accompanied by celebrity attorney Gloria Allred. Whitman fired her house maid after realizing possessing an illegal worker would hurt her advertising campaign, reports the newest York Daily News. The housekeeper provided cheap labor to Whitman which is why, claims Allred, she continued to employ Diaz Santillan although she was aware the maid was an unlawful immigrant. claims from Allred. Allred claims the maid was, “disrespected, humiliated and emotionally and financially abused.” Whitman is being sued by Diaz. What is wanted out of it is reimbursement for mileage and unpaid wages.
Many assume ‘a political stunt’ is all that is happening
Allred said Whitman received a letter from the Social Security Administration in 2003 saying the Social Security number provided by Diaz Santillan did not match the name on file. Whitman claims no letter ever reached her, states the Houston Chronicle. The Whitman campaign said in a statement that Diaz Santillan confessed to Whitman in June 2009 — five months after Whitman formed an exploratory committee to run for governor– that she had used her sister’s documents to get hired . According to Whitman’s campaign, Allred is trying to influence the November election with this political stunt. Whitman said, after an even in San Jose, California, “I feel terrible for Nicky. … She’s being manipulated.”.
Being hypocritical of illegal immigration
Ironically enough, Whitman has been campaigning in California for governor for making it so fines are given to any employers that hire illegal immigrants. The Washington Independent reports that some political analysts think Allred’s allegations will hinder her campaign’s efforts to reach out to California’s large Latino population. Hypocrite is probably the name she’ll be branded with. be expected.
